Chillin with Matthew

Today I was chillin with my good Friend Matthew Greally the manager for a web company called Think Create. We had breakfast in Glebe at a Cafe called The Divine Monkey Lounge.

"We are not in the picture bellow"

The sun was shinning and the weather was fantastic. While there I had poached eggs and salmon and Matthew had scrambled. We chatted about our businesses and what the aspects of web 3.0 have to offer. Matthew then talked about a company called Interspire.

Interspire are a young web company that have produce one of the coolest shopping cart SW solutions I have come across.

We than chatted about soccer and the fall of the US economy. I then got my laptop out and realised that these crazy laptops should have a battery life of 24 hours or more as mine went into hibernation mode after 20 minutes I wished I had at least a spare battery.

Anyhow as the morning went on we chatted, complained and laughed about everything and enything.

Welcome to Blue Cactus

Hi everybody. this is my first blog. My name is Lars Hansson I started a web design company about 3 years ago and started doing websites for friends etc.

Then I did more sites and got frustrated with designing sites in HTML. So I set out to find the best solution and the easiest solution I could find.

I came across a content management solution called Mambo Site Server which now has led to another super solution called Joomla.

What is Joomla

Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available. Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone.

What's a content management system (CMS)?

A content management system is software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Web site, much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. Since the CMS manages all your content, you don't have to.

What are some real world examples of what Joomla! can do?

Joomla is used all over the world to power Web sites of all shapes and sizes. For example:

  • Corporate Web sites or portals
  • Corporate intranets and extranets
  • Online magazines, newspapers, and publications
  • E-commerce and online reservations
  • Government applications
  • Small business Web sites
  • Non-profit and organizational Web sites
  • Community-based portals
  • School and church Web sites
  • Personal or family homepages
